TO FORM A NEW RECOGNISED CONTROLLING BODY
INTRODUCTION
The company secretarial profession has been long neglected owing to a number of factors:-
OBJECTS
1. To create an environment so that PCSPs get letters of qualification behind their names that are worthwhile, meaningful and allows trust in the work they do.
2. To set up an environment where a serious engagement can take place with the regulators like the CIPC, Masters and FIC.
3. To have an opening qualification standard so that practitioners can obtain a qualification and be proud of their achievement and can be trusted.
4. To maintain the educational standards of the profession by ensuring that courses are undertaken with the necessary CPD standards.
5. To ensure that service delivery standards are met by the regulators.
First of all this move is not for the purpose of signing a petition or a union to take-on the CIPC and other regulators and agencies. Its to create a Recognised Controlling Body( RCB) for working secretarial practitioners to make a meaningful contribution to the industry.
We can consider alignment with an existing body, provided what we are doing is not going to be lost in the work they do! I nevertheless don’t believe alignment with an existing body will work unless someone can change our mind.
MEMBERSHIP
The members are the Company Secretarial working class. The people who do the day to day work in a secretarial practice, the people that engage with the regulators on a daily basis. They may be running their own secretarial practice or work in an accounting or legal firm or even for a group of companies. Generally people who have spent years in a secretarial practice and do not have a degree, but may very well have a degree. They know the ropes because that’s what they have been doing for a long time. Members can also be high level company secretaries, as what is going on in the industry will also affect them.
One of the tenants of this body must be to give the members a designated qualification based on time spent and knowledge. There must be ongoing learning and professional development. To make it something meaningful. E.g I have a company Secretarial qualification called Professional Company Secretarial Practitioner PCSP. We need to make this kind of qualification something that is sought after and be proud to attain.
Registration is important, to be supported by certification and a certificate will be issued.
A major goal is to get the regulators especially the CIPC to list the practitioners and attach each practitioner to the clients they work on resulting in transactions everyone can trust.
REGISTRATION PROCESS
Potential members must register which will show commitment and accept the objects once these are developed. Please complete the form below. Registration is free!
ENGAGEMENT WITH THE CIPC AND MASTERS
This group would then have the power to deal with CIPC AND MASTERS and be able to tackle the problems encountered at a high level. The days of being ignored must come to an end!
RECRUITMENT
We would need to have a big group otherwise this could be a waste of time. Volume speaks and member numbers of the group must get to 500 as a minimum. Each member who registers must start recruiting as many practitioners as is possible. In the mean time there is a chat group.

COMMITTEE
Once we have established that there are enough members to go forward a Committee is to be appointed. Committee members are volunteers. They must have time to do the work that they undertake. On the form below please indicate if you want to be a committee member and indicate the value you will add.
Once we have some members and a committee the objects and an agenda will be developed with a meeting to take place as soon as possible.
FIRST STEPS
To get members on board and a committee established. This is up to you and your colleagues. If we don't get a sufficient response to start then we must abort this whole process.

- Although there may be recognised controlling bodies (RCBs), there is no body that deals with the secretarial professions interests properly resulting in a situation that workers and clients in the profession have now reached an all time low.

- The inadequate electronic systems from government agencies have increased the turn around times dramatically bringing the secretarial profession into disrepute.
- The messaging from the various government agencies is appalling in terms of new laws and regulations with no way for the secretarial community to engage.
