SKY INTERNET SPECIFICATIONS INTERNET CONNECTION Sufficient speed is dependent on the number of concurrent users (a good benchmark would be 2MB per user and then round it up)
Must be Unshaped, Unlimited and Unthrottled
Unshaped means that you must have equal upload and download and also that the “traffic” for the line must have no priority for any specific type of traffic. e.g. being higher priority for smtp or emails etc
Remember that you require both upload and download speeds to be sufficient as you will be doing both in the Sky applications.
Certain functions do utilise more downloads, i.e. reading / retrieving of data from a cloud server while others require both, like data entries which utilise uploads, that is writing /submitting data to the cloud server and this utilises the upload speeds and this then is also “shared” between all the users active at the same time.
Unlimited, is the amount of data traffic that is allowed during the course of the month. If it is limited, then speeds will slow down considerably when your threshold is reached.
Unthrottled is where even if the data is unlimited, when you reach a threshold of amount of data, the speed is then throttled / diminished as per fair use policy of your ISP.
Or when there are high volumes of data (this applies to your ISP as well, that is other users utilising your ISP at the same time) then the speeds are reduced to cater for this volume.
